Worth every penny.

This gun comes in so many calibers you can find want ever you need. I own the 7.62x39 and love it. I plan on picking up one in .308 or 12 guage in the near future. Many extras and no matter what any else says its fun to customize your guns. You can pick up one on Gilberts and get nearly every accessory you made also. I would recommend this gun to anyone and in 7.62x39 the recoil is light enough for my 11 year old son to enjoy shooting. This is a great gun!!
Saiga 7.62X39

This rifle is a bit rustic but that's pretty much what I expected considering what type of rifle it is and where it was manufactured. It isn't pretty and has no whistles or bells but that's not what I was looking for. I wanted a good rifle for under $500.00 and I got exactly that. I haven't had any problems with it, it's as nice to shoot as a MK-16/AR or any other rifle I've fired. My brother and two friends shot it and they all want one now too. I use Pro-Mag magazines, they're cheaper than Surefire and I haven't had any problems with them. If I had to do it all over again I'd consider buying the Saiga in .308 instead of 7.62 but I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this rifle to anyone.
saiga is worth the money

I have this gun in 7.62 and I have to say its a very reliable gun. I have never had a jam or misfire since I started shooting it. I do clean my guns often but I've had clean guns jam. Lots of extras for it, you can pick them up right here at Gilberts.com. check into 922r before adding pistol grip or hi-cap mags.
Great Rifle

Bought this rifle 3 days ago and has arrived today 4/30. I purchased the Tapco stock for it as well. This is a great rifle and well worth the money. If considering about making a purchase keep in mind to pair a quality stock for it, the original stock is ridiculously cheap and MUST be replaced. After installing the Tapco stock gun is ready for the range. Buy it...
Good all around rifle

I purchased this rifle here at Gilberts with the Tapco collapsable stock (pistol grip), easy install. I live here in SW Texas and have problems with feril hogs ruining fence lines, gardens etc. so this is a typical ranch gun. The guns shoots smoothly, even with the cheap ammo I was using. No jams, nothing, I have a shooting spot here and at about 100 yards out I was grouping shots approx.4" in diameter. I'm no real marksman or anything and I'm certain it can do better in the hands of someone more skilled. However, it serves the purpose in which I bought it for. If you need a all around good rifle on the cheap, I suggest getting one of these.

Good luck,
Brian

Exactly what I had hoped for.

I found that the Saiga 7.62x39mm quickly met my expectations of reliability as it used three different brands of ammo without any problems. I expected that I would get decent accuracy, but within the first 50 rounds I was able to get a three shot 1" group at 100 yards, my brother and step-father were able to do the same or better; all of the three shot groups were made from a bench. Before I shot the rifle at all, I did change out the stock with a Tapco T6 stock w/pistol grip and I replaced the stock mag with Sure Fire 30 round mags. There was hardly any recoil and the gun felt great when shot. I bought the rifle, stock, and mags from Gilbert's Guns; all of them arrived within days of ordering. I received outstanding customer service and I highly recommend these great products.

Got my rifle on tuesday march 31 2009, only took 4 days to get it after ordering. Apperance is good , the butt stock is pretty cheap lookin, I plan on ordering a Tapco collapsable from gilberts in the near feature. The gun handles great Ihave not shot a lot of rounds through it but it handles like a solid firearm. It was cheaper than any A.K I have seen in Missouri. I'll let you know in the future if I have any problems. Until then GOD bless you all, and don't let "THE MAN" get ya down.

i purchased a saiga 7.62X39 a month back on this website. I also purchased 30 rd mag and tapco collapsable stock. i have a ranch in south texas and bought it for an overall ranch rifle and to get a quick bead on feral hogs which present themselves often and unpredictably.

i have fired about 60 rds from the rifle and i am very pleased with its ease of cycling and accuracy. I have a 4 inch group at 90 yds. i use the american eagle FMJ which is made by federal and a better target round than wolf or other cheap ammo. it has performed flawlessly and the mag sits tight into the rifle. the quality of the rifle (made by the russian factory that makes the AK 46) is much better than I expected. it is much better than a romanian wasr 10. the trigger pull on the saiga is smooth and consistent. just right in my opinion.

i am very happy with my purchase and this firearm. it is not as accurate as an M16 but it is less than half the cost which is nice.
Saiga Rifles

If you need a rifle for every member of the family, this is it. If you want to make this into something other than what it is, forget it. It's not worth the trouble. The only thing worth doing to it is stripping the paint and blueing it, which adds at least $100 to the cost. You may think you're getting a bargain, but what you're really getting is a new, functional, AK47 in sheep's clothing. Leave it at that. It's a primitive tool and very useful as such.

Making anything else out of it doesn't make financial sense. If you want to use original AK mags, just buy the $14 Belgian feed ramp and carefully install it. If you can't do that yourself, just use the Saiga mags. At most you'll only be able to carry 3 or 4 of them, either way. This is a basic defense tool and a primitive hunting gun - don't think of it as anything else and don't waste your money making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
